Ardis Twedt, 89, of McHenry, ND died on December 30, 2024, at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, ND under the care of Hospice. Ardis Maureen Twedt was born October 18, 1935, to Ludvig and Emma (Gudim) Quanbeck in McVille, ND. Ardis grew up on the family farm near McVille with her three brothers. She graduated from Oak Grove High School, Fargo, ND in 1953. She then graduated from Mayville State College in Mayville, ND with a teaching degree.
Ardis married Gordon Twedt on August 25, 1956, at New Luther Valley Free Lutheran Church in McVille, ND. She and Gordon lived on the family farm near McHenry, ND and raised five children. Ardis taught at Sheyenne, ND for one year before getting married and a couple of years at Colvin Township country school near the farm after getting married. She embodied all the roles of a farm wife, which included wrangling kids as well as dairy cattle, managing a household and kitchen, helping in all the ways a dairy and grain operation needed help, and most importantly, teaching her family what it meant to serve the Lord.
Ardis grew up as a member of New Luther Valley Free Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, then was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND and later in life was again a member of New Luther Valley Free Lutheran Church. Christian faith was important to Ardis, and she served for many years and in many ways for her Lord.
Ardis is survived by her children, Ron Twedt, Moorhead, MN; Carol (John) Collins, Carrington, ND; Curt (Pam) Twedt, Oxbow, ND; Duane (Andrea) Twedt, McHenry, ND; and Alan (Julie) Twedt, Portland, ND; her grandchildren, Claire and Maren Twedt; David (Michelle), Erik (Samantha) and Nathan Collins; Emma (Stafford) Thompson, Andrew and Jonathan Twedt; Ryan Twedt and Cassandra (Nick) Wettstein; Solveig (Jacob) Jameson, Malena (Isaac) Dubovoy, Elsie and Jens Twedt; her great grandchildren, Elise and Grace Jameson, and Soren Thompson; her brother-in-law, Marcus Twedt, McVille, ND, sisters-in-law, Velda Twedt, Fergus Falls, MN, and Charlotte Quanbeck, McVille, ND; and by numerous nieces and nephews and also many relatives in Norway.
Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents; brothers, Marvin, Kent and Lee; infant triplet sisters; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur Twedt, Isabel and Clifford Johnson, Agnes and Chuck Howard, Mabel Quanbeck, and Hannah Quanbeck.
A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 3:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm, at New Luther Valley Free Lutheran Church, McVille, ND. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm, at the church. Burial will be at Gethsemane Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Tolna, ND, in the spring.
