Arlene Avery Bailey, widow of Richard Bailey and daughter of the late Lincoln and Ruth Van Horn Avery was born in Royal Oak Township, Oakland Co. Michigan on April 2, 1937 and departed this life in Midway, Kentucky on September 8, 2025 at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 6 days. She was a homemaker and a member of the Elk Lick Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Richard "Randy" Bailey (Donna) and Tracy Bailey; two daughters, Tammy (Bailey) Moore (Link) and Debbie Bailey Shuler (Lonnie); several grandchildren, Jennifer Bailey, Richie Bailey, Austin Bailey, Tiffany Bailey, Justin Moore, Casey (Moore) Reece (Adam), Jeremy Moore (Debanhi), Natasha (Huff) Ratliff, Nicholas Huff, April (South) Osborne (Otis), Jessica (Bailey) Halcomb (Mike), Amber Bailey (Chris Aycock), Devin Bailey, Autumn Shuler, Travis Shuler, and a host of great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Dorothy Dudley, Jeanette Daniels, Dick Avery, Clarence Avery, and Chuck Avery (Alice). In addition to her husband and parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her two sons, William "Bill" Bailey (Phyllis) and Robert "Bob" Bailey; a daughter, Lorri (Bailey) South; a daughter-in-law, Freda (Fox) Bailey; and a granddaughter, Danielle Fox. Arlene spent her life making a home with her husband Richard and taking care of her 7 children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a giving and loving heart and was cherished by her family. She led by example and raised her children with love, patience, and prayer. Special thanks to the staff at The Homeplace at Midway where Arlene spent the past 3 years. She was adored and loved by her extended family there. She will be missed by all those who knew her. She touched all of our hearts forever.
