Larry Dale York

Larry Dale York, 83, left his earthly home on Friday, October 17th and entered into his eternal home with his Lord and Savior. He came to know the Lord on August 17, 2025. Larry was a Vietnam Veteran, proudly serving the country he loved. While in service, he earned several awards such as Expert Rifleman and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a mechanic and did body work for several years and later became a correctional officer at Lee Adjustment Center. He was a die-hard Republican who worried tirelessly about the young people growing up. "It's just a different world" he would say. He loved gardening and watching the birds, especially the cardinals. He loved going down on the river and hanging out with the Hogan brothers and listening to them make music. They always played his favorite song, "Detroit City." Dad said he burnt the jukebox up in Vietnam playing that song. He loved family gatherings and telling silly stories. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Wilma York; his 4 daughters, Dixie Lyons (Greg Helton), Anita McQueen (Earl), Marsha York (Josh Hogan), and Jessica York; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his 2 sisters, Viola Cable and Gayle Cheek; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Maggie (Polly) York, all of his brothers, Jr. Bill, Bob, and Gene York; and 1 sister, Brenda Thomas; as well as 1 great grandson, Dylan McQueen, Jr.; and a son-in-law, Brian Lyons.
