Arlene Bennett (Feil), age 96, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, to the late John and Jane (Evans) Feil on March 18, 1929.
Arlene graduated from South High School in 1947. She worked for American Education Publication/Xerox for 15 years. She married Lawrence (Larry) Bennett in 1948, and he predeceased her in 1994 after 46 years of marriage. Arlene and Larry moved to Lancaster, Ohio, in 1975, and she was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Arlene is survived by her children, Vickie (Gary) Johnson of Southport, North Carolina, and Rick (Denise) Bennett of Lancaster. She cherished her grandchildren and great–grandchildren and they brought her great joy. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kelsey (Seth) Johnson of Texas; Christopher (Holly) Bennett and Sarah (Christopher) Bishop of Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Corbin, and Piper Johnson; Camren and Bailey Bennett; and Elaina, Scarlett, and Weston Bishop. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jane; husband, Lawrence Bennett; sister, Eva Jane (Dan) Williams; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Sally Bennett of Gallipolis.
Caring Cremation® has taken place through Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. A Celebration of Arlene’s life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11 am, with Pastor Diana Gugel officiating, at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 405 N. Columbus Street, Lancaster, OH. Friends and family may visit from 10 am until the time of the service.
In remembrance of Arlene’s life, the family has requested that charitable donations be made to Southeast Lions Club, PO Box 6296, Columbus, OH 43206.
