Arlene Chaple (D'Urbano), a loving mother and a penny slot fanatic, passed away on June 29 at the age of 82. Arlene grew up in Everett and went to Everett High School. After graduating, Arlene worked at various companies during her life before starting at W.R. Grace where she worked for many years. She was excellent at her work and rose through the ranks of the company. When she left W.R. Grace to join Lahey Clinic, she was the supervisor of the whole accounting division. She was very proud of her work.
When not at work Arlene would most likely be found at home cooking and caring for her two boys. She prided herself on her ability to try a recipe and nail it on the first go. She could cook everything from assembling a simple sandwich, to laboring over a low and slow roast. Later in life she was a regular at both Bickford's Grille and the Chateau. She loved getting the gnocchi at the Chateau, but always with the sauce on the side.
Over the years, Arlene played every casino in the New England area. She was a staple at Foxwoods, Mohegan, and Twin Rivers. But just as she got a little older, and those trips felt a little further, the universe provided, as Encore opened in her old hometown of Everett. She and her family treasured time spent together on their trips there. Arlene and her friend even did a couple girls trips to Las Vegas where they'd play blackjack, go to shows, and enjoy some great meals at the nice restaurants there.
Arlene was loved by many and leaves behind three children, a niece, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a best friend of 76 years. She's predeceased by her two sisters.
A memorial service for Arlene will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 12:30 PM at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803.
