Arlene was a joyful, friendly person; and now I learn she must have been "tough as nails" to have worked her way through boot camp and up to Major in the meanest military arm of the U.S., but I still have trouble picturing her as a "Devil Dog"! I met her in the 1st Clarinet section of the McIntosh Student Center Band in 1962 or 1963. Sincere sympathies sent to her family and friends. Time to rest.
