Arlene McGillin, 89, passed away September 13, 2025 at Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam, NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rose Muscarella Schillace.
Arlene received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Arlene retired from St. Mary’s Hospital where she was a Transport Aid. She was also a waitress at Pepe’s Restaurant in Amsterdam.
On April 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to John Joseph McGillin Jr; who predeceased her February 8, 2022. Arlene was also predeceased by her son John J. McGillin III and is survived by two sons, Salvatore Michael McGillin and Eugene Patrick McGillin (Lisa), three daughters, Rose Anne St. John (Michael), Katherine Velez (Roy), and Anita Christine McGillin, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and one sister, Anita Racher (Dave). Nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be private.
Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Memorial gifts in Arlene’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
