David Wayne McGillin

David Wayne McGillin 69,of Alburgh, VT passed away peacefully at home with his wife and daughter by his side on June 17, 2024. Born in Verdun, Quebec on August 18,1954 to Thomas McGillin and Helen (McLean) McGillin.
David was a quiet man with a good sense of humor and a gigantic heart. He was a hard working man who never understood the concept of a vacation or relaxing. David had his own business for most of his life. After completing high school David enrolled in training as a diesel mechanic. The last twenty five years David worked as a welder and fabricator. David was a 'jack of all trades" and if he didn't know how to do something then he would do research to be able to do it.
David's hobby was work. He always had to be busy. He loved working on cars, trucks, and machinery. He enjoyed building things with his hands. When he needed to ditch his property and needed a backhoe, he built his own backhoe.David was always there when anyone need help and he showed love and compassion by doing things for others when they needed it.
David also loved spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them when he could. When Nathan was little David loved showing him how to fix a vehicle. Another one of his loves was a good ice cream in a cone which he would enjoy with Cheryl and Madison.
David leaves behind his wife of thirty five years Cheryl (Bourgeois) McGillin, his much loved companion dog Madison, his son David W McGillin Jr. (Michele), daughters Amanda Hoss (Ben), Kristen (McGillin) Prim (Rob), Brothers Thomas McGillin Jr. (Diane), Neil McGillin, Sisters Linda Beaulieu, Darlene McGillin (Marc), father in law Ernest Bourgeois Sr., brother in law Ernest Bourgeois Jr.(Laura), sister in laws Katherine Boutah, Aileen Pearo (Phil). Grandchildren Nathan, Emma, Evan, Emily, Cole, Maddy, Michael and Alex. He also leaves behind many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Helen McGillin, brother Garth McGillin, brother in laws Danny Beaulieu and Donald Boutah, mother-in-law Maxine Bourgeois, and nephew Jimmy Palmer.
The family would like to thank Bayada for the wonderful compassionate care that they provided for David and Cheryl. The family would also like to thank the staff at Champlain Islands Health Center for their roll in David's medical care.
