Arlene was born on August 1, 1929, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. She was married to Melvin Potrykus on November 8, 1947, until his passing in 1979.
She was known for her "no fear" approach to life, her humor that kept us laughing, compassion, kindness and sweet soul. Always up to try anything and never forgot to express her thanks for her long life to "The Man Upstairs".
She maintained her grace and beauty up until the end. She loved hard but fought even harder. Her song has ended but her melody remains.
She is survived by her children, Gary Potrykus, David (Linda) Potrykus, Melvin (Lori) Potrykus, Jeff (Janiesa Cupp) Potrykus, and Julie (Andy Quinn) Potrykus. Her cup runnith over with love for her 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Anthony Potrykus; daughter, Gale Potrykus; and her rescue one-of-a-kind canine, Rebbie who gave her his unconditional love everyday of his life.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and love to the Advisacare Team of Port Huron. They treated her with respect and dignity as if she was their own grandmother.
The family honors the memory of Arlene and invites you to visit and share memories Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. service at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Mt. Clemens. Burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township.
