Date of Death: December 21, 2024
Date of Birth: December 2, 1939
Arlene J. Staples, 85, of Brunswick, Maine, passed away peacefully at her home on December 21, 2024, with family at her side. She was born in Gardiner, Maine on December 2,1939 to Arthur and Doris Farrell. Arlene worked in a shoe shop for many years before marrying Dallas Staples in 1968. She soon became a stay-at-home mom and secretary of Dallas Staples and Sons Inc. Arlene was widely known for her home cooking. Those who knew her often found themselves asking for recipes, though she rarely followed any herself. Her meals, made from the heart, were always a source of comfort, and her ability to create delicious dishes without a recipe will be fondly remembered by all who tasted them. Arlene was a devoted mother, always putting her children first. She enjoyed camping but cherished holidays with her large family most of all. Arlene is predeceased by her husband Dallas Staples of 55 years, her parents, sister Beverly Morse, brothers Eugene Farrell and Steve Farrell; stepson Winthrop Staples.
She leaves behind sisters Linda Duguay and husband Gerry of Sabattus, Cindy Hall of Bowdoinham, Deborah Hardy of Sanford, Laurie Farrell of Bowdoinham; her children Jerry Staples and partner Nancy of Farmingdale, Russell Staples and wife Brenda of Florida, Daniel Staples and wife Janice of Bowdoin, Lisa Blackwell and husband David of Brunswick, Brenda McKay and husband Darrin of Brunswick, Tammy Turcotte and partner Craig of Brunswick, Christopher Staples and wife Hope of Brunswick; stepchildren Dallas Staples Jr of Richmond, Dean Staples of Richmond; along with many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A special thank you to the Chan's staff and granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer, who helped make Arlene's last days peaceful.
A service will be held January 10 at 3:00 at Pathway Vineyard Church, 2 Columbus Dr. Brunswick, Maine. A celebration of life to follow at the Barn on 60 Raspberry Ln, Brunswick, Maine. All are welcome to attend
