Arlene J. "Arnie" Williams

Arlene J. "Arnie" Williams, age 83 of Peruville Rd., Groton, NY passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.
Born April 3, 1939 in Owego, NY she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Hackett Thurston. She was an avid golfer, playing on several local leagues. She was employed with Cornell University, retiring in 2013.
In addition to her parents, Arnie was predeceased by her partner and companion of 43 years, Roger O. Gardner in 2018; grandsons, Robert Williams in 2019 and Caleb Williams in 2020. She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Kathy) Williams of Louisville, KY, Greg Williams of Groton, NY and Douglas Williams of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Rachel Williams of Fresno, CA, Jessica (Richie) Bower of Groton, NY, Amber Williams of Ithaca, NY; great grandchildren, Thomas, Johnathan, Brennan, Kameron, Jackson, Chase, Alden, Kiryah, Bella, Aliyah and Remington; her brother, Richard Thurston of Richford, NY; Roger's brothers, Stan (Joni) Gardner of Boston, MA and Gary (Christine) Gardner of York, PA; sisters, Grace (Roger) Howland of Berkshire, NY and Diane (Bob) Schaffer of Newark Valley, NY; brother in law, William Herrnkind of Tallahassee, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to a memorial service at 10 am on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Arnie and Roger will be interred together at Highland Cemetery in Richford, NY.
