Arleta Maxine Raines

Maxine grew up in Paden and attended Paden Schools, proudly graduating from Paden High School with the Class of 1948. During her school years, she was an exceptional basketball player—well-known for her talent and competitive spirit. On June 7, 1948, Maxine married the love of her life, Floyd Dee Raines. The two made their home in Paden, where they raised their family, many children, and built a lifetime of memories together.

Maxine was affectionately known throughout the community as “The Snow Cone Lady.” She owned and operated The Snow Cone Stand in Paden for more than 40 years, serving generations of families with her warm smile, friendly conversation, and the perfect summer treat. Prior to running the stand, she worked for Blue Bell, Tinker, Sylvania, and Avon, always known for her dependable work ethic and kind nature.

In her free time, Maxine enjoyed many hobbies and pleasures that brought joy to her life. She loved traveling and visiting casinos. She took annual trips with family to Laughlin, Nevada, where she enjoyed holidays and summers filled with fun, playing penny machines, and restaurants she went to with each trip. She played the piano beautifully, cheered faithfully for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder, and treasured her nightly walks with her walking group of friends —moments filled with friendship, shared stories, and plenty of gossip.

She rarely missed Paden basketball games and was a true fan and supporter.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Raines; her son, Clayton Robison; her brothers, Bernard Muncy, Clyde Muncy, Raymond Muncy, and Jack Muncy; and her sisters, Wilma Rogers and Hazel Raines.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Terry Raines; her daughters, Sherry Teage and her husband, Stewart, and Lynn Turner and her husband, Jeff; her sister, Bettye Robison; two granddaughters, Nikkita Jackson and Sabra Kinnamon; and five great-grandchildren—Maci Smith, Brandon Lee, Swayze Jackson, Lilyonna Lee, and Jazmin Lee. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Maxine will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her deep love for her community, and the countless sweet treats and sweeter memories she shared with those who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, fun, and community pride will live on in Paden for generations to come.
