Armand 'Paul' Michaud resident of Sarasota, Florida and husband of 27 years to Carolyn Stinson Michaud, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, with his loving wife, family members and dearest friends by his side during his final days.
Born in Lawrence, MA on February 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Armand P Michaud and Mary Bomba Michaud of Lawrence MA. Growing up on Tower Hill in Lawrence he was well known for holding a home run record in the little league and having his first hole in one at age 16 at Merrimack Golf Club on hole 11. He attended Lawrence area schools and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School where he had a passion for sports and excelled in baseball. Paul then attended and graduated from Holy Cross College.
After college, Paul's passion for sports (and warmer weather) led him to pursue a career in the golf industry. He started his career working at Doral Country Club in Miami but eventually found his way to South Carolina where he obtained his PGA Professional Golf Member status and worked for Willbrook Plantation Golf Club in Myrtle Beach. Shortly after, he accepted an offer to work as the Head Golf Professional at the Georgetown Club in Georgetown, MA when they first opened. However, the desire for warmer weather led him to Sarasota where he initially worked for Fox Fire Golf Course but soon found the perfect Head Golf Professional position at Bobby Jones Municipal Golf Course where he ultimately retired from. During his employment, Paul devoted his time to running the Sarasota Junior Golf league to support and develop the love for the golf game with young people. He was also well known in the community for forming and running the 'Michaud" Golf League for 15 years.
Although Paul was an avid fan of all the Tampa Bay sports teams, his passions were not limited to sports. Paul loved all types of dancing, an activity that led him to meet his wife, Carolyn. He dabbled in photography and was often hired to video record ballroom dance competitions. Paul loved to travel worldwide and go on cruises with his friends and often with family members. One such trip to Scotland satisfied his lifetime dream to play golf at St. Andrews. Paul had a kind heart and a love for animals. He and his wife regularly rescued multiple dogs but more notably, Paul fostered an abandoned baby squirrel "Rocky" to maturity and they developed a unique relationship through the years.
Paul's cherished and shared his wonderful life passions with his wife Carolyn Stinson Michaud. Their relationship was the envy of all who knew them. They were always in-step together on the dance floor and off. He embraced his relationship with his stepson Craig Martin, his wife Amber Martin and their children Ava and Cash. Their times together were always enjoyed with visits to the beach, local activities, and family time.
One of Paul's greatest joys was spending time with his siblings and attending the chaotic Michaud Family gatherings. Whether it was for a holiday event, wedding or annual BBQ, Paul was always present with his fun loving and quick-witted demeanor. He will be so sadly missed by his siblings and their families. The families of the late Douglas Michaud and his wife Patricia, of Walpole, Lawrence Michaud and his wife Deborah, of Naples, Fla, Rob Michaud of Salem, N.H., Cindy Michaud of Haverhill, Sandra Ruscak of Methuen, Trudy Lawler and her husband William of Methuen, MA, and Timothy Michaud and his wife WeeNee of Winchester, MA.
