Armando P. Florez (Andy) (1935 - 2024)
Armando P. Florez, 88 of Dona Ana, New Mexico died Saturday May 4, 2024. He was fondly known as Andy. Andy was born on October 5, 1935, in Canutillo, Texas. He was the second child of eight children born to Ramon and Esther Florez. Andy was a veteran of United States Army where he served his country honorably in the Korean War. He worked as a Foreman in Construction for many years in Las Cruces, NM and in Amarillo, TX. He loved basketball, baseball, football, Nascar, he said basketball was his favorite. He also loved to watch old black and white westerns on TV. Anytime you would go visit him he was watching an old western.
Andy was a long-time resident of Dona Ana where he is survived by his daughter Cindy Florez grandchildren Ashely Sveum (Mike) and Ryan Simpson, daughter Melissa Lundien (Robert) grandchildren Deven, Aeven, and Brayden Lundien, and his son Chris Florez (Melinda) grandchildren Adrienne, Christian, Reyana, Raymond Florez, Kelsey Martinez (Gabriel), and many great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents Ramon and Esther Florez; sister, Frances Zuniga: brothers, Valentine "Tino", David, Jerry, Ray, Arthur "Tortilla", and George.
A mass will be held at the Our Lady of Purification Church in Dona Ana, NM on Friday June 14, 2024, at 10am.
