Arnett B. McCord, 89, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025. He was born on May 10, 1936 in Brownton, West Virginia to the late Walter and Jessie McCord. He was a resident of the Akron area for most of his life Arnett retired from Commercial Lovelace as a dock worker with 30 years of service and was a member of Teamsters Local #407. Preceded in death by stepbrother, Robert Allen; stepsister, Grace White; half-sisters, Anna May McCord, Genevieve Montgomery, Mary McCord, Lillian Farris, Pauline Keener and Geraldine Zolnowski; half-brothers, Jimmie Wyatt, Eugene Jones, Joseph Board, David McCord, Lloyd McCord and Paul McCord and sisters, Madeline Blume, Marie McCord, Alice Guariglia, Joanne Hunchick and Betty Phiefer. Arnett is survived by his daughter, Jean Tonge; sons, Charles (Maureen) McCord, Dennis (Bonnie) McCord and Arnett McCord Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Parks; nieces; nephews; along with many other family members and friends. Arnett’s funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton, Ohio 44203 with Rev. Rod Grabski officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until time of his service.
