Carlson, Arnold K. "Arnie",
went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2025 at the age of 97.
Arnie was a long-time resident of Northeast Minneapolis and part owner of Ready Meats. He was a charter member of Nativity Lutheran Church and served that congregation for 50 years, something he was very proud of.
A jack of all trades, he loved a project, whether building, remodeling, recording music, creating new varieties of plants, or making wine; he also loved dancing, traveling, and family time. His interests were many and varied.
He was loved and will be greatly missed by wife Sheila, daughters Janice (Grant) Johnson and Judy (David) Mach, stepsons Todd (Lori), Brad, and Dean (Jen) Matlack, sister Darlene (Raymond) Bodick, sister-in-law Patricia Carlson, grandchildren Christopher and Aaron Ofsthun, Olivia Johnson, Matthew, Michael, Joseph, and Katelyn Mach, Dylan, Collin, Maya, and Eva Matlack, great-granddaughter Ivy Ofsthun, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Helmer and Eva Carlson, wife Marlys (Johnson), brothers Clifford, Raymond, and Robert Carlson, brother-in-law Harold Johnson, sisters-in-law Carol Johnson, Lorraine, and Diane Carlson, and nephew Craig Carlson.
Thank you to Johanna Shores Presbyterian Homes for your love and excellent care of our Arnie.
Celebration of life to be held at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel, 2610 19th Ave NE, Minneapolis, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 25, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Hillside Cemetery. Reception will follow at Hillside Community Room.
