Arnold "Arnie" Downs

Arnold Downs, known to many as "Arnie", age 93, of Huber Heights, passed away on May 22, 2024. He was born on January 29, 1931 to the late Emmitt and Ada Downs. He proudly served his country as a combat photographer in the United States Army, then later in the United States Air Force, from which he retired on July 9, 1968.

Arnie loved to play golf, and he played until the age of 89. If he wasn't golfing, he could usually be found at the bowling alley with his league. He also enjoyed playing cards and telling stories with his friends.

In addition to his parents, Arnie was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Allen Downs.

Left to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Geraldine R. Downs; his son, Brian Downs (Tina Kahler); his grandson, Zachary Brian Allen Downs; his sister, Sissy (Joe) Williams; his best friend, Norman (Jeri) Byrd; and many more family and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, where the Memorial Service will begin at 4:00pm with military honors. Arnie will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
