Arnold Hurst "Arnie" Heltzer

Arnold "Arnie" Hurst Heltzer, age 87, of Lake Forest, served honorably as a Captain, in the United States Army, beloved husband of Gail Heltzer; loving father of John (Debby) Heltzer and the late Michael (Elizabeth) Heltzer; adored grandfather of Henry, Rose, Jack, George, James and Estelle; devoted son of the late Bernard and the late Gertrude Heltzer. Arnie was a renown baseball player at Indiana University during the late 1950s. He held batting average and home run records, that stood the test of time. Arnie played minor league baseball with a Cincinnati Reds affiliate. Arnie would light up a room with his smile and positive demeanor. He was charismatic, had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great storyteller, and absolutely loved his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. After baseball, Arnie was an avid tennis player and golfer. He will be dearly missed by his family and wonderful friends. Services will be private.
