Arnold Peter Jungers, aged 80, of
Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on December
19, 2025.
Arnie was born August 20,1945, in
Hospers, Iowa to William and Petronella (Stapenhorst) Jungers. He
and his five siblings (Ellen, Bernard, Theresa, Daniel, and Margaret), were raised on the family farm in
Hospers. His upbringing close to the land, as a son of a farmer, shaped a lifelong love of gardening and
work outdoors, as well as a creative and innovative mindset. There was nothing he couldn't do or fix.
When faced with a problem, Arnie was known for pausing thoughtfully and then saying, "I have an idea!"
After completing his bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1967, from Iowa State University, he moved to
Springdale, PA to work for PPG Industries as a chemist. There, he met his wife, Roberta (Huffman)
Jungers. They married in 1973, and had four children, Eric (Melissa), Christin, Katherine, and Andrea. He
retired from PPG in 2006.
Arnie and Roberta's marriage of fifty two years was a witness of love and faithfulness. They lived and worked
side by side as a team. Hard work, commitment, and joy were centerpieces of the family. Together, they
raised their children in the Catholic faith, and Arnie instilled in his children the importance and value of
their faith. Throughout his life, Arnie led by example, showing that God is the foundation of a loving,
strong, and stable family.
Arnie and Roberta were witnesses of sacrificial love to one another and to their kids. It is impossible to
count the many ways he helped and supported his children and grandchildren over the course of his life.
We treasure memories of Arnie helping us with home renovations and yard projects, packing and moving
his children when they made life transitions and then traveling to visit them, fixing cars, babysitting for and
playing with his grandchildren, building bird boxes, planting the yearly garden, and so many more things
that witnessed his spirit of care and generosity.
Arnie's greatest joy was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family, and family was the
heart of his life. Each of us who has been blessed to be part of his family has known and felt his love; we
are proud to call him husband, dad, grandpa.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta; his children Eric (Melissa) of Newark, OH, Christin of Steubenville,
OH, Katherine and Andrea of Livonia, MI; grandchildren, Natalie, Nicholas, Benjamin, Rebecca, Eleanor,
and Gabriel; his brother Danny of
Hospers, IA, and his sister, Ellen of Worthington, MN.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sr. Margaret Jungers, OSF and Sr. Theresa Jungers, OSF, his
brother, Bernard Jungers, brother-in-law Sylvester Vortherms, and sister-in-law Phyllis Jungers.
