Arnold T. Schraeder, age 85, of the Town of Port Edwards, passed away on January 18, 2026, after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma.

Arnold requested a private burial be held in the Village of Port Edwards Cemetery.

Arnold was born on October 18, 1940, in the Town of Eau Pleine to Roy and Gertrude (Zophia) Schraeder. He graduated from John Edwards High School in 1959. He married Beverly Walker on June 20, 1964. Arnold served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed in Germany for two-and-a-half years. He also served nine years in the Wisconsin Rapids 32nd Red Arrow Division of the Wisconsin Army National Guards. He was employed for 45 years by Bruener Timber Products of Port Edwards.

Arnold enjoyed hobby farming, reading, traveling on bus trips throughout the United States, hunting, fishing with friends in Canada, and fishing with family at his cabin in Spirit Lake. He also enjoyed riding on his Gator to look for wildlife in the back field. He loved encouraging his children and grandchildren, especially in their school extra-curricular activities.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Cherie (Joe) Hardina of Wis. Rapids; three sons, Arnie Schraeder of Wis. Rapids, Dan (Malissa) Schraeder of Nekoosa, Kelly (Sara) Schraeder of Wis. Rapids; ten grandchildren, Jess Schraeder, Jacob (Jasmine Johnston) Schraeder, Josh (Brie) Schraeder, Brian Hardina, Aaron Hardina, Jared (Sarah) Hardina, Cassidy (Joe) Schuerman, Justin (Megan) Schraeder, Adam Schraeder, Jack Schraeder; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Vivian, Olive, Beckham, Everett, Walker, Daisy, Elloise; sister, Mary Ann (Eldon) Hildebrandt; sisters-in-law, Jean Huser, Mary Lou Schraeder, Jan Schraeder, Barbara Hammerberg, Donna Schuette, Pam (Tom) Jensen, Mary (Todd) Dillmann, Nancy (Brien) Zabler and brother-in-law, Ryan (Pam) Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gertrude Schraeder; in-laws, Harold and Doris Walker; four brothers, LeRoy Schraeder, Kenneth Schraeder, Orville Schraeder, Gerald Schraeder; sister-in-law, Eileen Schraeder; brothers-in-law, Roger Walker and Jerry Schuette; and great-grandson, Cole Hardina.

He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with a good sense of humor.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Wisconsin Rapids Aspirus Cancer Center, Eric in the Aspirus Imaging Department, and Aspirus Hospice for the kindness and compassionate care given to Arnold.

We send our sympathy to the entire family. We know that Bev was so diligent in doing a wonderful job in caring for Arnold for so long. We appreciated Arnie's sense of humor as he handled all he had to go through to survive each day. His soul is at rest with the Lord now.
