Arnold Thomas "Tom" Shrader

Arnold Thomas "Tom" Shrader, 80, passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2026, after a long illness, with his family by his side. He was born July 16, 1945.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Lefler Shrader; his daughter, Leslie Shrader Adkins and husband Travis of Cucuron, France; his son, Tommy Shrader and wife Stephanie of Rosedale, Virginia; his beloved granddaughter, Alex Adkins of Los Angeles, California; his sister, Rita Shrader Palmer of Bland, Virginia; and his brother, Charles "Ronnie" Shrader of Roanoke, Virginia.

Tom treasured lifelong friendships, especially those formed with the Tazewell High School Class of 1964. He had a lifetime love of flying that began after earning his pilot's license in the early 1970s. At home, he took great pride in a perfectly kept lawn, faithfully maintained with his cherished John Deere mowers. Known as a jokester, Tom delighted in spinning yarns and playing practical jokes on his friends, bringing laughter to those around him.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Ulta Hospice for their compassionate care and support during the past months.

In keeping with his wishes, private family services will be held.
