I had Mrs Athans as my kindergarten teacher in 1976.I remember them both very well. Mr. Athans would play the piano for us during music time in their livingroom. What a wonderful loving pair they were. I saw Mr.Athans back in 2018 and had a very sweet conversation about his playing piano. I am 54 now but remember them both dearly. Thank you Mrs. Athans for your teaching me my ABC's and 123's and thank you Mr. Athans for the lovely music. Kimberly Fogarty

My heartfelt condolences go out to Father Athans family. I was saddened to my core to hear of his passing. He was a core foundation of the post WWII Dover Greek Orthodox church community. He was the only priest that I knew from the age of 7. It was a time when the priest truly "did everything". He taught us Greek, counseled us about school, organized our Greek holiday poems and plays and presentations. He officiated at my wedding and that of my sister and my niece's baptism and Father's funeral. He was a dear friend to my parents. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brilliant knowledge of theology, that was fascinating to explore and serve as a compass for me. My generation of baby boomers were honored to be able to pay tribute to him at his retirement. His impact has remained and will continue. His memory shall remain eternal. Constance M Passas MD
