Mr. Arthur was born September 24, 1933 in Denmark, MS. At a young age, he found himself enlisting into a 20 year career with the United States Army, where he proudly served two tours in Vietnam, one tour in Korea, and two tours in Germany as an Army Aviation Mechanic. After retiring, he spent the next phase of his life working as a Chemical Engineer for the University of Mississippi for another 20 years before retiring. Mr. Arthur such a hard worker, and he always had some type of work to keep him busy.
In his free time, Mr. Arthur had a passion for farming, working in the yard and gardens, and moving dirt. He absolutely loved being outdoors and spent a lot of time fishing in his younger days. Mr. Arthur also had a passion for music. In Vietnam, he started a band called "The Ramblers." He was so proud of his band, and enjoyed playing in Vietnam, Germany, and even in Oklahoma when he was home from deployment. Mr. Arthur spent much of his time volunteering at different organizations to serve his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, and he was affiliated with Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church and Springdale Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Arthur also served at the Denmark Water Association. He was such a loving and kind hearted man, and he would always be willing to help others in need.
Mr. Arthur had a personality like no other. He was so outgoing and personable that he ended up making friends everywhere he went. He had a way of telling stories like no other, and he loved nothing more than sharing his many stories and experiences with his family and friends. He instilled his hardworking and family-oriented personality into his children and grandchildren and his legacy truly reflects the wonderful man he was. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Arthur is survived by his wife, Wanda Bowles of Batesville; two daughters, Kimberly Daniels Tutor of Oxford, and Michelle (Danny) Ford of Courtland, MS; two sons, George Robert (Nancy) Stripling of Iuka, MS, and Steven (Mary) Daniels of Oxford; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
