Arthur A. Catena Jr., 81, of New Paris, PA died on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Homewood in Martinsburg. He was born on June 7, 1942 in Windber, PA a son of the late Arthur "Cungy" and Elizabeth Betty (Fagnani) Catena. On December 29, 1962 in Windber, PA he married Dorothy (Hocevar) Catena who preceded him in death on May 27, 2022. He is survived by two daughters: Amy Winegardner and husband Timothy of Schellsburg, PA; Toni Monko and husband Robert of New Paris, PA; two granddaughters, Lindsay Ickes and husband Corey; and Hannah Shane and husband Josh; one grandson, Matthew Monko; and five great-grandchildren: Carter, Garrett, and Adalyn Ickes and Myles and Oliver Shane. He was preceded in death by one brother, David Catena widow Karen (Kroft) Catena who survives of Pittsburgh.
After marriage in 1962, the couple moved to Maryland and later returned to New Paris to take over the family business-Catena's Service Station in Windber. He ran the business until he retired. Upon retirement Art enjoyed farming, mushroom hunting, and metal detecting with his friends. He will be remembered as a hardworking and softspoken man. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Homewood and Gentiva Hospice for their care.
A graveside service will be held at South Fork Cemetery on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Espenshade officiating. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford. Our online guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
