Arthur J. Etchberger

1934 - 2023

Arthur J. Etchberger, 89, of Bernville, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Berks Heim. Born on February 14, 1934, he was a son to the late R. Fred and Edith (Degler) Etchberger. Arthur was the husband of the late Catherine (Rieser) Etchberger with whom he shared 53 years of marriage at her time of passing in 2012. Arthur was a 1952 graduate of Wilson High School and a proud United States Navy Veteran. He was later employed by Clover Farms Dairy for many years as a Delivery Driver. Arthur was a former fire fighter and Assistant Fire Chief for the Mt. Pleasant Fire Company and an avid Gruber Wagon Collector. He also was a member of Bern Reformed United Church of Christ, the Shirttail Rod and Gun Club, the Bernville Grange, and the Red Rose Pony Club. Arthur is survived by his children, Brian Etchberger, husband of Audra Etchberger, and Keith Etchberger, husband of Tracey Etchberger both of Bernville. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cierra, Cody and Seth Etchberger and brothers, R. Fred Etchberger and Lynwood Etchberger. In addition to his parents and wife, Arthur was predeceased by his brother, Donald Etchberger. A viewing will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 5:00 pm â€" 7:00 pm in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville. A burial will be held privately for the family at a later date in Bern Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society for the Preservation of the Gruber Wagon Works, PO Box 486, Leesport, PA, 19533 or to Bern Reformed UCC, 3196 Bernville Road, Leesport, PA 19533.
