Arthur Serrano Gonzalez, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, surrounded by his beloved family, at the age of 69. He was born on April 17, 1956, in Wyandotte, Michigan, the son of Alfred and Marie “Hazel” Gonzalez (Serrano).
Arthur served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps from 1973 to 1981 and continued his dedication in the Army National Guard until his retirement in the early 2000s. His commitment to service and loyalty to his country further showed the values he instilled in his family.
On November 17, 1977, Arthur married Tammy Watson, and their life together blossomed into a partnership filled with love, laughter, and a devoted commitment to their family. Arthur was a proud father to nine children, Robert, Faith, Michael, Joshua, Star, Andy, Jessica, Christian and Tarabeth. He also cherished his role as a papaw to his many grandchildrenand great granddaughter.
In addition to his devotion to family, Arthur was known for his love of fishing and his abilities as a jack of all trades. He was known to his family as the “backyard mechanic”; always working on cars, whether that be fixing them up or breaking them. Saturday mornings were often spent riding his bike, and his spiritual faith led him to regularly attend church at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found community and solace.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Tammy Gonzalez; his children, Robert (Achasha) Gonzalez, Faith Gonzalez, Michael (Emily) Gibson, Joshua (Mary) Gonzalez, Star (Justin) Goble, Andy Gonzalez, Jessica Smith and Christian Gonzalez; his grandchildren, Allison Gonzalez, Abigail Gonzalez, Kyler Denney, Ema Denney, Savannah Baez, Gannon Gonzalez, Gunnar Gonzalez, Auggie Goble, Minix Goble, Linkin Gonzalez, Lennox Gonzalez, Ryland, Karson, McKenna, Avery, Noah, and Grace; his great granddaughter, Idalia Baldacci; his mother, Hazel Gonzalez; and his siblings, Alfred, Tony, Cindy, Chris, and Clemente.
He joins his father, Alfred Gonzalez; his daughter, Tarabeth; his brothers, Alex and Joseph Gonzalez; and his stepmother, Pilar Gonzalez, in Heaven.
