Arthur Leland Hahn

1941 - 2026

Lt. Col. Arthur L Hahn, USAF (Ret.), of Poulsbo, WA, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026 at age 85.



Anyone who knew Art, (Lee to his family) knew he was larger than life. Dad made friends with everyone he met, often talking about his favorite subjects of cars, airplanes, and skiing. He carried these passions throughout his life, flying C-124s, C-141s, and F-4 Phantoms in the Air Force, racing his flashy Formula Ford race car, and showing off his Porsche Speedster as a young Air Force officer.



While stationed in Italy, Arthur enjoyed skiing the Alps with friends and family, telling those who he convinced to ski for the first time "Bend ze knees, five dollars pleez!". He played with a couple of Ferraris which he set loose on the German Autobahn whenever he had the chance and a kept a troop of Mini Coopers that he eventually brought back to the US with him.



After retiring from the military, Arthur continued his love of airplanes by becoming a flight instructor of Boeing 747s and 777s, while working for The Boeing Company and Alteon. He fondly recalled one of the highlights of his instructing career when he got the thrill of meeting one of his racing idols Niki Lauda and teaching him and his Lauda Air flight crews how to fly the 777. After he retired, his pride and joy was his Porsche Turbo 911. Friends shared that he could beat them on the track, even as a senior citizen! We find comfort in knowing that Dad is now free to speed – by car, plane, skis, or wings. His legacy lives on through the retirement lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever. He is "mo betta" now. Over and out.



Arthur is survived by his wife, Carollynn Zimmers; his children, Jeffrey Hahn (Kari) and Christina Lane (Chris); his grandchildren, Josh, Noah, Brendan, and Chiara, and his sisters, Janet Henson (Jay) and Kyra Hahn (Vincent), as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene Kwon Hahn.



Arthur will be laid to rest with military honors on Friday, March 20, at 2:30pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
