Little Rock, Iowa
Art Heronemus, age 82 of Little Rock, Iowa passed away Monday morning, October 21, 2024 at his home in rural Little Rock after a brief bout with cancer.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 24 from 4-8 with family present 6-8 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock.
Funeral will be Friday morning at 10:30 AM, at Salem Reformed Church with Pastor Daniel Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery of Little Rock.
Art was born on May 11, 1942, in Adrian, MN, the son of Albert & Rose (Renken) Heronemus. He was welcomed home from the hospital by his older brother, Stanley. At the age of 4 they moved to the family farm where they currently live. He attended country school and later Little Rock Community High School. On July 5th, 1961, he married the love of his life, Connie Johnson. Art and Connie milked cows for several years and farmed their whole life. Horses have always been a BIG part of their lives, including rodeos and trail rides as well as 4-H.
Art and Connie were blessed with one son and three daughters. Their son, Scott, passed away shortly after birth. Susan (Roger) Wiertzema, Sharon (Greg) DeBoer, and Sheila (Darwin) Klaassen. The girls have precious memories of many family vacations, mostly with the horses, also being woken up some mornings to Wacky Western songs, or Art would occasionally sing to them, or recite Mrs. O’Mally.
Art’s grandchildren brought much joy to his life! Amber (Doug) Brinkhous, Amanda Minter, Marcus Minter, Adeline (John) Vivian, Alex (Teyha) Wiertzema, Kayla (Dustin) Reck, Kristi (Joel) Tiedeman, Brandon (Katie) DeBoer, Carly (Bryan) Herum, Colby (Brooke) Klaassen.
Great grandchildren; Reese and Kurt Brinkhous, Wyatt and Emily Minter, Halston and Harlow Wiertzema, Janessa and Landon Reck, Harper and Brooklyn Tiedeman, Kase, Graham and Eli DeBoer, Clay and Ky Herum, Hadley and Ace Klaassen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rose Heronemus, parents-in-law, Sweer and Alma Johnson, brother, Stanley Heronemus, sister-in-law, Leanne Heronemus, and their son, Scott Heronemus.
