Arthur J., III. "Art"
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur J. Holt III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on February 3, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Art was a man whose unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community touched the lives of all who knew him.
A proud member of the Plum Borough community, Art was an enduring presence. He was a devoted family man who loved his role as father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great pride in attending sporting events, tracking each of his children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's accomplishments, and being deeply involved in their lives. Whether it was school successes, work achievements, or travel adventures, he was always there to support, encourage, and celebrate. He had an unmatched ability to offer advice when needed, always with a gentle, yet steadfast approach.
A lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Art's passion for the team was something he proudly shared with his family, often making game days a special occasion. He also had a tradition of handcrafting homemade birthday cards, a simple, yet meaningful gesture that reflected his love and care for his family.
For over 40 years, Art served as a trusted State Farm agent, becoming a staple in the community. His professionalism, kindness, and integrity earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and clients. But beyond his work, it was his quick wit and infectious sense of humor that made him a friend to so many. Whether through his playful jokes or his ability to make others smile with ease, he had an uncanny knack for brightening any room.
Before his successful career in insurance, Art proudly served in the United States Army as an instructor of secure communications systems. His time in the military shaped him into the disciplined, compassionate, and giving man his family and community came to know and love.
Art is loved by his wife of 67 years, Margaret "Peggy", his 4 children, Terry (Lezlee), Tim (Terri), Pam (Fred) and Jeff (Kristen), his 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tariq), Dylan (Cassie), Matthew, Nicole (Michael), Lauren (Jacob), Karli, Natalie, Shane, and 11 great-grandchildren. He also has two surviving sisters, Joanne and Diane. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
The viewing will be held at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd., 7450 Saltsburg Rd,
Pittsburgh, PA, 15235 on Saturday, February 8th from 2:00 to 6:00pm. All friends and family are welcome. Interment and Military Honors will follow at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to one of Art's favorite charities, Tunnels to Towers.
Art's legacy of love, humor, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
