Arthur (Art) Bernard Katz, 76, of Denver, NC died April 2, 2023.
A fast friend for the many who were fortunate to know him, Art had a gift of personal relationship-building that served him well both personally and professionally across stops in cities across the country.
He was born on October 30, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Harry and Rebecca Katz.
Art served as a staff sergeant in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He attended Cabrini University in Philadelphia, where he earned his degree in organic chemistry. He went on to teach for a time before meeting the love of his life - his future wife Joanna - while working at Auerbach Associates.
Art soon began a successful career working for Morton Thiokol Company, staying on through several mergers and acquisitions, and various corporate relocations to Illinois, Florida, and eventually settling in North Carolina in 1999.
Art is survived by his beloved wife of forty-five years, Joanna, their only daughter, Adara Jacobson and husband Josh Jacobson, and many other extended family members who reside in Pennsylvania.
Though he would go on to live in fervent sports towns across the country, Art's loyalty to the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles remained strong. He enjoyed reading and writing, golfing and attending theatre in his spare time. He was a passionate dog lover and provided loving homes to many dogs throughout his life.
Always known to crack a joke, Art's life was full of laughter and light, despite battling Diabetes and many difficult health challenges. His family was his true pride and joy. He will be missed and remembered with the same love and tenderness he showed to all that knew him.
A private service will be held in the near future.
James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to JDRF, Metrolina Association for the Blind, or North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue.
