Arthur Leon Kelley Jr.

Arthur Leon Kelley Jr was born to the parentage of Arthur Leon
Kelley Sr and Eddie Lee Kelley (Turner) on December 13, 1936 in
Cameron, Texas. He was the eldest of 4 children.
During his early years, he united with Cameron Grove Missionary Baptist Church
under the pastorage of Reverend L.L.V. Jones. He remained a faithful
member, deacon, treasurer and Father of the Church under Pastor Faye
Johnson until his health began to fail. He was also, once a member of
True Love Baptist Church under Pastor Samuel L. Buhl and served
as Trustee to oversee the property and facility management.
Arthur attended O.J. Thomas High School and graduated in the class of 1954.
He went on to further his studies at Prairie View A&M University in
Prairie View, Texas where he received a certifi cate in tailoring. After
attending Prairie View, Arthur went on to work at Ideal Hatchery for
a number of years. Upon leaving Ideal Hatchery, he began to work at
Ralph Wilson Plastics where he remained until his retirement after
34 years.
Arthur was called to glory to be with his heavenly father on
December 27, 2025. Arthur played football, basketball and ran track
for OJ Thomas High School. The black community had a baseball
league in which he participated as a player. He enjoyed playing
baseball during that time. Arthur had a passion for playing golf in
his spare time and would travel to play golf with his friends. He loved
watching golf, baseball, tennis, basketball, track and football (especially
America's team - Dallas Cowboys) on television. He also washed and
detailed cars on the side in his younger years. Arthur was a life long
member of OJ Thomas Alumni Association and served on the Board
of Directors. He loved his Alma Mater dearly.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter (Ramona Kelley), one brother (Clyde
Kelley), one sister (Dorothy Worthey), 3 nieces (Yvonne & Melissa
Kelley, and Angela Worthey), and 1 great grandchild (Angel Kelley).
Arthur leaves cherished memories to his children, Ricky (Marietta),
Gregory (Michelle), Roderick (Monica), Denise (Johnny), Andrea and
Roland. 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great great
grandchildren. One brother, Fredrick Kelley (Clydell), one sister-n-law
(Violeta Green). The other children in his life, Tommy, Ricky, Janice,
Jimmy, Sheila and Thetis, Victor and Roderick. A host of nieces,
nephews and friends.
