Arthur Lapierre, 82, died July 2, 2025, in Hartford Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Lorraine (Shaw) Lapierre. Born in Concord, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late G. Arthur and Celia (Labonte) Lapierre.
Archie worked for the State of CT as a Project Engineer with the Department of Transportation for over 30 years.
Archie was a US Army Veteran, having served during Vietnam. He served 17 years in the Connecticut National Guard.
He was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 91, where he served six terms as Post Commander. He also served as a member of the annual VJ Day Parade committee since 1967, with over 30 years as either Chairman or Co-Chairman of the committee. Archie coordinated the monthly steak dinners at Post 91 as well as the annual lenten fish dinners.
Archie was a longtime member of the American Legion Ambulance Committee. He served on the Military Funeral Honors Detail for Eastern Connecticut. He was a life member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks and the Knights of Columbus Council #270.
Archie was the Post Advisor for Troop 36 as well as an Advisor for the Post 91 American Legion Baseball Team and the local school scholarships and awards programs. He was also involved in Monday night bingo with All Hallows Church.
His presence will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
Archie is survived by three daughters, Brenda (Mark) Roberge of
Moosup, CT, Linda (Bob) Sylvestri of Griswold, CT, Pam Lapierre of
Moosup, CT; son, Douglas Stillman of
Plainfield, CT. Two brothers, Roger Lapierre of Coventry, RI, Maurice Lapierre of
Plainfield, CT; one sister, Laura Baker of
Moosup, CT; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at All Hallows Church, 126 Prospect St,
Moosup, CT on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Legion, Post 91 Ambulance. For memorial
