Bowman Funeral Directors - Garden CityArthur Edwin Monroe, known as Ed, born July 1, 1946, was the only child of Arthur Edwin Monroe and Dorotha Louise Hereford in Oklahoma City, OK. He grew up in San Diego, served 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Pilot. He graduated with a bachelors in Economics from San Diego State University in 1968 and a Masters in Systems Management from University of Southern California in 1986. He married Barbara Jean Gray June 12, 1982 in Spokane, WA. Following his Air Force career, he worked for the State of California as an accountant until he retired and moved to Boise, ID.
He was a man of many talents from sports to games, with a great sense of direction, and a love for computers, movies, Mexican food, and WWII history. He was humble and kind, quick with a smile. His faith in Jesus Christ motivated and sustained him throughout his life.
Despite suffering from advanced dementia in his final years, he was always known for his gentle spirit and sweet smile. He was beloved by his caregivers and friends at the Brightstar Memory Care Homes.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara, daughter Jessica and husband James Litke, son Arthur E Monroe III and wife Dawna, grandchildren Amanda, Allison, Timothy, Madeline, Elliot, and great grandson Obi.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 25th at 12:30 at Bowman Funeral Chapel followed by a committal service at 2:00 at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery.
