Arthur Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford on Jan. 16, 2026.
It is with great sadness we share Arthur Thomas Moore II born on June 3, 1940, in Bath, Maine, passed away on December 27, 2025 at Togus Hospital in Augusta Maine.

He was the beloved son of the late Arthur Thomas Moore SR. and Ellen Moore.

Arthur also known around town as "The Old Man" attended middle school in Phippsburg and graduated from Morse High School in 1958. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Vietnam and dedicated 16 years to military service. In 1966, after returning from the Army, he met and married Margaret "Peggy" Lacroix(Moore) in Bath, together they shared many wonderful years.

He had three children with Peggy- Jeffrey Moore, Shelley Berry, and Arthur Moore lll.

Arthur worked hard as a welder and truck driver, he loved the outdoors-especially hunting and digging clams along the Maine coast. He was also a bear-hunting guide with Black Ghost Outfitters in Greenbush, Maine, and took great pride in that. He loved fixing up old buses and bringing them back to life to take camping. Friends and family remember him as quick-witted, humorous, and always able to make others laugh. He was known for his flirty nature and his love of a good time, and he never hesitated to stand up for himself or his friends.

Arthur will be deeply missed by his surviving family- son, Jeffrey Moore and daughter in law Angela Bryant, daughters, Shelley Berry and Linda Datavs, granddaughters, Amber Moore with Matthew Wooten, Nicole Moore with Owen Macmurray , Rebecca Moore, Stephanie Small with Nicholas Small, Miranda Berry, Morgan Berry, grandsons, Erik Datavs and Logan Berry, and lots of great grandkids, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Arthur has now gone to join his beloved wife Peggy of 59 years , his son Arthur Moore, sister Judy Moore, and his loyal dog Darcy.

A celebration of life for both Arthur and Peggy will be held January 31st at the Bath Legion from 3 PM to 10 PM. All friends and family are encouraged to attend and honor the life of this life long couple.

There will also be a military salute service honoring Arthur at the VA cemetery in Augusta at a later date. We will keep everyone posted when there is more information.
