I just saw in the IMLA newsletter that Art received a lifetime achievement award at the 2025 conference, and thought I would reach out after all these years, only to see this. We crossed paths at the University of Texas School of Law where Art, although a couple years behind me, was one of the good guys. My sincere condolences to Renita and family. May he rest in perfect peace.

I knew Art, Arthur, from Ben Milam through Lee High.
A very nice and funny person to be around.
As I read his obituary, it reminded me of how intelligent he was as well. A great list of accomplishments!!
My sympathy for a painful loss.

Arthur "Pert" Pertile was a great guy and advocate for the less fortunate and young. As a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin, I had the pleasure of working with Pert during his time as President of the Black Student Alliance (BSA). He always gave good advice, made me laugh as he was jokester and ensured that we were taking care of our academics. His drive, determination and dedication will truly be missed. Rest in Power Art!

I worked with Art at the City Attorney's office in Waco for several years. I loved his enthusiasm and dedication to work with children. I appreciated his great sense of humor, he often made me laugh. We both had a stuttering issue, and one of us would begin to say something and start stammering, but would not even have to finish the sentence as we always knew what the other was trying to say or convey. I truly enjoyed my time working with him, he was a good man. Lifting his family in prayer during this most difficult time.
