Arthur Powell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by G.H. Herrmann Funeral Homes - Greenwood on Dec. 27, 2025.
It's with great sadness, we announce the passing of Arthur Edmond Andrew Powell, 69, of Martinsville, on December 24, 2025.
Born on Nov. 23, 1956 in Indianapolis, Arthur was the child of Edna Geraldine Combs and John Edmond Powell. He was raised alongside his three siblings, brother Bill Powell (wife, Brenda), and two sisters, Patricia Swimm (husband, Robert), and Kathy Powell. Arthur married Rhonda (Guy) Powell in 1978 with whom he had three children; Nichole, Arthur, and Eric.
Arthur spent a majority of his career working in the construction industry as a superintendent for Kleis Construction in Greenwood, Indiana. In his spare time, Arthur was an avid outdoors man enjoying many activities such as camping, fishing, and hunting. He spent many summers camping every weekend with his family and friends where a lifetime of memories were made at Cataract Falls and Starve Hollow state parks.
Known as "Bud" to so many, Arthur didn't know a stranger, befriending anyone he met in his 69 years of life. Many knew him for his kindness, humorous personality, willingness to lend a helping hand, and being the "life of the party".
Art is survived by his 3 children, Nichole Powell, Arthur Powell, and Eric Powell; 7 grandchildren, Noah Drake (wife, Olivia), Kloey Powell (fiancé, Austin), Carter Powell, Bryce Haddix, Kyndle Powell, Chaytin Powell, and Ainsley Powell. Arthur also leaves behind many nieces and nephews he lovingly adored.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Geraldine (Gillan) Combs; grandparents, Arthur and Myrtle Gillan; brother, Bill Powell; and two sisters, Patricia Swimm and Kathy Powell. With his passing, Arthur's children find peace in knowing he has been reunited with his family who passed prior to him.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 2:00 PM until the time of memorial at 4:00 PM at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN.
