Arthur Herman Quarnstrom Jr.

Arthur H. Quarnstrom, Jr., 83, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
After graduating from Granby High School, he joined the Army, serving overseas in Europe and living in Germany after he was discharged. When he returned to Norfolk, he worked for his father at the family store, Quarnstrom's Appliances, his 3rd career was boat repair specializing in electrical work. He also helped build a boat at the Virginia Mariner's Museum.
Art married the love of his life, Marie, in June of 1981 and they shared many boating and hot air balloon adventures.
In 1978 Art and Marie started volunteering for Harborfest which lasted nearly two decades. This led to volunteering for numerous other waterfront festivals, parades and celebrations. They became members of Town Point Yacht Club and Broad Bay Sailing Assoc. and he was an honored volunteer for the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race. Art also, acquired his visual pilot's license in the 1980's.
You could always find Art in his garage tinkering with someone's broken...whatever, the garage was his happy place. All who knew him knew he was the fix it guy.
Art is predeceased by his parents Arthur H. Quarnstrom, Sr. and Inez B. Quarnstrom, his brother Thomas G. Quarnstrom, his wife Marie K. Quarnstrom and his grandson Dylan Michael Rowell.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth Coffield and her wife Sandy Burnett and Dottie Rowell and her husband Joe Rowell and their son Parker Rowell. Art and Marie were Godparents to Emmagene Worley Stinson.
Art was a great friend to all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The service will begin at 1pm in the funeral home chapel and interment will immediately follow in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
