Asa Blount McKeithen Jr.

Asa Blount McKeithen Jr., 94, of Milton, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Asa was born on February 27, 1931 to Edna and Asa McKeithen, Sr. in Tallahassee, FL.

Asa grew up all across Florida from Panama City, Quincy, and Sneads to Tallahassee, and even Miami.

In 1950, Asa joined the Navy as a Boatswain's mate. He served 45 months at sea and earned the rank of Boatswain's Mate Second Class. During shore leave from a maritime deployment to Europe, Asa met the love of his life, Atchie Almeta "Bobbie" Pons in Waldo, FL. Asa and Bobbie were married in 1954 and spent 69 wonderful years together. Asa was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1954 and immediately began study at the University of Florida. Asa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry in 1960. After graduation, he worked for the Florida Forest Service as a Santa Rosa County Forester for 12 years. Asa then went to work in the forestry industry as a procurement forester until he retired in 1996.

With all his years spent outdoors, Asa enjoyed the time he spent at his quaint Coldwater Creek homestead. You could find him out by the ponds and creeks, as he loved to fish. He was very knowledgeable about the world around him, which led to him always striking up a conversation with anyone who would want to talk about what was happening in the world. He always found a moment anytime you were with him to preach about the Lord. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Asa McKeithen Sr.; son, Eddie McKeithen; and wife, Atchie Almeta "Bobbie" McKeithen.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Allan (Keetsa) McKeithen of Milton, Rance (Kate) McKeithen of Pittsburgh, PA, and Justin McKeithen of Milton; grandchildren, Chase McKeithen of Milton and Briteny (Vince) Boden of Southside, TN; and great-grandchildren: Jake McKeithen, Elizabeth McKeithen, Jackson McKeithen, Vincent Boden IV, Benny McKeithen, and Luke Boden.
