Asaka Watanabe Park was the first daughter of Edward Park and Junko Watanabe and the older sister to Natsuki.
Asaka was extraordinarily kind and caring to other people's needs.
Asaka was born in NYC and grew up in Bergen County. She attended the Japanese Children's Society in Englewood Cliffs up to 3rd grade before transferring to the Cresskill school district. She cherished growing up in Cresskill. NJ.
Asaka's early years were marked by a love for animals, but it was her growing passion for writing that truly defined her. This passion led her to the College of New Jersey, where she was in her final semester, majoring in Journalism. She was a strong advocate for disability to increase public knowledge.
Tragically, she passed away during a visit to her parents over the weekend from a complication from Vascular Ehlers-Danlos ( VEDS ).
In Lieu of flowers, please contribute to The VEDS Movement. https://give.marfan.org/give/259737/#!/donation/checkout

I met her during our MUSE internship at TCNJ summer 2023, she was assigned as my roommate and she was the sweetest person ever.

Asaka is the reason I became a disability advocate. May she rest in peace. I will miss reading her writing, her honesty and vulnerability created a unique safe space to laugh and feel comfortable in being different.
