She is survived by her son Jerry (Yvonne) of Grovetown, GA, daughter Gayle (Johnny) Brookins of Tifton, GA, daughter, Dianne (Danny) Blair of Milledgeville, and daughter Nan Parks of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren Clay (Jennifer) Brookins of Richmond Hill, GA, Danielle Brooks of Grovetown, GA, Valerie (Coby) Dixon of Milledgeville, Stacey Torrance of Brunswick, GA, Ryan (Hope) Parks of Colorado Springs, CO, Lyndsey Parks (Andrei Gener) of Stuttgart Germany, and Tristan Parks of Knoxville, TN. She has 8 great grandchildren, Evie Brookins, Caroline and Madelyn and Logan Dixon, Jackson Lightfield and Zach Parks, Bennett and Baya Parks. She is also survived by her sister Lelia B. Ray, of Tarrytown, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother Lelia Tanner R. Rives, a sister Betty Ferguson, a brother John Winton Ray, and grandson Trae Brookins.
Mrs. Brooks was fond of the simple things in life. Growing and canning vegetables was one of her favorite things to do. In earlier years, she enjoyed sewing, sharing recipes with her friends and cooking hearty, healthy meals. She was family oriented and cherished spending time with all of her children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a source of great pleasure to her. She was a firm believer of Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm on Sunday, July 27. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Oliver officiating. There will be a private burial at Memory Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a memorial contribution to Lakeside Baptist Church Building Fund, Milledgeville, GA, or to a charity of your choice.
Moores Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
