Audrey Arleen Hooks, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on December 26, 2023, in Gilmer, Texas. She was born on July 10, 1954 to Charles and Luetta Brown Richmond in Russell, Kansas. Audrey exuded warmth and kindness in everything she did and touched the lives of all who knew her.
Family held a special place in Audrey's heart. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Granny Red) she made countless sacrifices to ensure their happiness and well-being. She shared an unbreakable bond with her husband throughout their journey together. Their love was rooted in mutual respect, support, and an unending commitment.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Danny Hooks of Gilmer; daughters, Wendy Lewis Hicks (John Hicks) of Hallsville, Jaclyn Booth (Jimmy) of Spring Hill, Amy Vaughn of Winnsboro, Angie Briggs (Charlie) of Kilgore, Mandy Grice (Brian) of Gladewater; brothers, Charles Richmond of Gilmer, Willie Richmond of Copperas Cove, Joe Boyd of Harleton; sister, Shirley Parnell of Sulphur Springs; 14 grandchildren, Taylor Lewis, Brittany Hudson, Charlie Murphy, Maddie Murphy, Jamie Thompson, Caleb Henderson, Emma Miller, Chance Greer, Aaron Greer, Jacob Wilkins, Allyson Wilkins, Megan Nycamp, Hailey Jones and Sadie Hutchison; along with numerous great grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Richmond.
Visitation will be held on December 29, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, friends and family are welcome to gather and pay their respects during this time. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the same location at 10:00am with Brother Madison Caffey and Jim Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at Morris Cemetery.
