Audrey Louise Crawford Peters, age 94, of Shenango Township, passed away the early morning of Sept. 25, 2025, at The Haven Convalescent Home.
Born Aug. 22, 1931, in Karns City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Melvin "Smiley" and Clara (Waddington) Crawford.
Audrey graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City in 1949. She found work at the pants factory in Ellwood, calling herself "Rosie the Riveter" because her job consisted of putting rivets in the blue jeans.
One evening, Audrey met her future husband while roller skating. He declared right then to his buddy that he had just met the girl, "I'm going to marry."
On October 3, 1953, Audrey married George Peters. The two spent wonderful years together until he passed away on December 14, 2012.
Audrey enjoyed bowling and, in her later years, visiting Challenges to play bingo and catch up with the many good friends she had made there. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Mrs. Peters was a homemaker and created a loving home for her two daughters. They and their husbands survive her: Cindy (Phil) Dean of New Castle, and Leslie (Jeff) Wirth of Mt. Pleasant, PA.
She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her five grandchildren: Jessica Shevitz (Ryan), Adam Dean (Lindsay), Ian Wirth (Samantha), Quinn Wirth (Hannah), and Abigail Stewart (Randy). Completing the family circle are eight great-grandchildren: Tucker Shevitz, Jacey (Shevitz) Coonfare, Mack Shevitz, Ayla and Theo Wirth, and Ariah, Isaac, and Jonathon Stewart.
In addition to her husband and parents, Audrey will be greeted in Heaven by her brothers, Bob, Don, and LeRoy Crawford, and her sister, Verna Crawford Stinson.
Audrey's daughters, Cindy and Leslie, would like to thank the Tanner Family and the caregivers for their concern and the excellent care they gave their mother.
Services for Audrey will be private.
Burial will be alongside her husband at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
