Audrey A. Richardson passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 19, 2025 with her family at her side.
She was born in Malden, MA, September 13, 1942, the third of four children born to Stephen & Eva (Oliver) Zagorski. She grew up in Reading, MA where she completed most of her schooling. She graduated from Northeast High School in St Petersburg, FL – Class of 1960. She attended King’s College in NY and New England Baptist School of Nursing in Boston, MA.
On February 29, 1964, she married Edward Richardson. They lived in St Johnsbury before moving to the home they built in Sheffield in 1971. They had four children: Beth, David, Becky, and Barbara. They celebrated their 60th anniversary last year.
Audrey was very involved in the churches they attended over the years. She was a Sunday school teacher, nursery provider, puppet ministry director, organizer of church dinners, participant in sewing for orphanages in India & Haiti, choir member, and mission coordinator. With Edward, she worked for Child Evangelism Fellowship of Vermont, ministering to children through 5-day clubs, trainings and Vacation Bible Schools throughout Vermont.
Audrey was active in her community: Sheffield Field Day – she & Ed directed for 11 years, Sheffield Historical Society, Home Dem ladies group – holding positions at local & county level.
Family was very important to Audrey. As the family grew she made receiving blankets with crocheted edges for the new babies and made quilts for each wedding. She & Ed hosted many family meals, holidays, and family reunions.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Stephen Sr & Eva, her sister Phylis (Zagorski) Becker in 2023, her brother Stephen Zagorski Jr in 2024, brother-in-law Cal Becker, sisters-in-law Karen Zagorski and Elaine Jewell, and brothers-in-law Rick Perron and Jim Stephens.
Audrey is survived by her husband Edward of Sheffield; her children – Beth (& Jody) Stevens of McDermott, OH; David (& Randi) Richardson of Sheffield, Becky (& Dan) Martin of Wheelock, Barbara (& Mark) Tucker of Sheffield; 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren (2 more due). She is also survived by her brother Curt (& Paula) Zagorski of Atkinson, NH; many cousins, nieces & nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 31 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Guibord-Pearsons Funeral Home in Lyndonville, VT. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 1 pm at Lyndon Center Baptist Church in Lyndon Center, VT. The family will have a private burial in the spring at William Dexter Cemetery in Sheffield, VT.
