Audrey R Rieks

Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to the woman who was the gentle center of our family.
Audrey Ruth Rieks passed away peacefully on December 2nd, 2025 at the Hubbard Care Center. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a soft, sweet soul whose gentle pats and light squeezes of the arm could brighten anyone of her grandchildren's day. Audrey's patience, kindness, and easy laugh touched everyone who knew her.
Audrey was born on March 23,1937 to Fred and Talena (DeVries) Freeseman of Aplington, IA. She is survived by four siblings- Larry (Ann) Freeseman of Waterloo, IA, Doug Freeseman of Cedar Falls, IA, Janelle Parker of Corinth, TX, and Kim (Michael) Schulz of Waterloo, IA.
Upon graduating from high school, Audrey attended beauty school in Waterloo, IA. She spent a couple years being a beautician and then finished the remainder of her work career at Dodger Manufacturing in Eldora, IA. She retired from Dodger in 2002 after 28 years of dedication.
She had a true love for life's simple pleasures - baking her chocolate chip and sugar cookies, making pudding pies for holiday gatherings, angel food cake, confetti cupcakes, potato salad, liver and onions, and turkey stuffing, and enjoying classic country music and television in the comfort of her home. Audrey had a way of making everyone feel loved and welcome, and her warmth will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Audrey was a devoted mother to Jeff (Kelli) Nehring of Hubbard, IA, Valerie (Dick) Mahoney of Lake City, MN, and Tracey (Audrey) Rieks of Hubbard, IA. Audrey was also a beloved grandmother to ten grandchildren: Paul Jass-Mahoney, Cody Nehring, Timothy Mahoney, Leah Mahoney, Shauna Mahoney, Colton Nehring, Taten Rieks, Addison Rieks, Jaeger Rieks and Mya Rieks along with nine great grandchildren. Audrey cherished her family above all else. She leaves behind children and grandchildren who will carry forward her love, her laughter, and the countless small joys she shared with them.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Talena Freeseman, her husband Richard Rieks, and daughter Pamela Nida.
