Funeral services for Audrey Schweigert, 89, of Ekalaka, will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka with Tom Steig officiating. Burial will follow in Beaverlodge Cemetery.
Visitation for Audrey will be Wednesday January 10, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Audrey passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Dahl Memorial Healthcare.
Audrey was born January 26, 1934 to Lee and Claudia (Curry) Phelps in Baker Montana. She became the younger sister to Forrest. She attended Box Elder country school and then finished her schooling at Carter County High School graduating in 1952. While in high school she met the love of her life, Kenneth (Whitey) Schweigert they were married February 6, 1954. To this union came son Kenneth Lee daughters, Sherrie Lane and Lynn Dee.
Audrey was a full time partner, house wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, from helping to run the Corner Grocery to her 32 years running the mail route. Eventually, they moved out to the ranch on Beaver creek, where they enjoyed many years of ranch life.
Audrey was active with the community and her family. She enjoyed being a Brownie scout leader, member of Eastern Star and she made many trips to Baker for bowling with her friends. Audrey was a busy woman with no complaints. She was known to be a wonderful cook and fed those she loved very well. The garden was a place she found pleasure working with flowers and she also had a love of picking and hunting rocks. Audrey will be greatly missed by her husband of 69 years, Kenneth; daughter, Sherrie (Brad ) Anderson; granddaughters, Danelle (Keith) Motley and their sons Malik and Keyon, Kelsey, (Matthew) Gagnon and their sons Keegan, Rudy, Jackson and Kane and grandson, Kendall Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee, and Claudia Phelps; children, Kenny Lee, and Lynn Dee; and brother, Forrest Phelps.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Dahl Memorial Healthcare, Ekalaka, in Audrey’s name.
