Augusta M. Jones If you ever left Augusta Jones' home hungry, it was entirely your own fault. Born April 5, 1934, in Walnut Grove, Mississippi, to Harvey and Corene Green, Augusta spent her 91 years making sure the people around her felt loved, welcomed, and above all-well-fed. She married the love of her life, Jimmie Jones, on November 25,1950, and together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and community. Whether she was tending her garden or working her magic in the kitchen, Augusta's joy came from giving. She never missed a chance to share a plate of something homemade, served with a smile that made you feel like you were exactly where you belonged. Augusta also had a flair for style, always dressed to impress and wearing her signature black hair in a beehive that became her trademark. She was as polished on the outside as she was generous at heart. She poured her love into her family-as well as countless friends who became like family. In every hug, meal, and word of encouragement, Augusta left her mark. Augusta passed peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jimmie, and brother Billy Jack Green. She leaves behind sons Ken (Shelia) and Richie (Mary), grandchildren Karmen (Adam), Eric Anya), Tyler (Crystal), and Jim (Alina), and six (soon to be seven) great-grandchildren, as well as her loving siblings Ollie Faye Stubbs and Barney Green. Visitation will be held at Wilcox Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Stubbs, Mack Stubbs, Brad Green, Eric Jones, Tyler Jones, and Jim Jones. Her garden is quiet now, but her legacy will continue to grow in the hearts of those who loved her.
