August Scholz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Brunswick on May 31, 2022.
August Jack Scholz, 88, passed away April 25, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 28, 1933 in Cleveland to August and Anne Scholz. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Ann (Kovacic); son, Scott (Tracy); granddaughter, Kayleigh; and grandson, Brody. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Sours and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Grace Eyerdom and brothers, Dr. Donald Norman and Raymond Scholz.
Jack served his country in the U.S. Army. In his youth, Jack was a farmer and later became a teacher at Towslee Elementary in Brunswick. After his retirement he started his company, Scholz Wood Products, selling lumber to many woodworkers in the area.
Jack loved the outdoors, especially the woods. He loved all of nature's beauty, creatures and all varieties of birds (especially the Purple Martin). In his youth, he enjoyed hunting foxes and later coyotes. He loved fishing in Canada, cruising to many destinations, music, and woodworking; he made nine grandfather clocks that are treasured by family members. Jack was very knowledgeable on many subjects and enjoyed helping family and friends on any project. He was a kind, gentle, and caring man. Throughout his life, he lived by the "Golden Rule." During recent years, his greatest enjoyment was time spent with his grandchildren.
Jack was loved by all of his family and friends. His passing is a great loss to all who knew him and he will be missed beyond words.
There will be a private celebration of life for Jack at a later date. The family thanks Hospice for all their care. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that any memorial contributions be made to Make-A-Wish, 6060 Rockside Woods Blvd. #315, Independence, Ohio 44131 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
