Augusta (Gussie) Fay McBride passed peacefully on July 18, 2025. She was born on June 1, 1932 to Jessie T. and Lillie Mae (Houston) McBride. She was the third of six children.

Gussie grew up in Rains County where she graduated from Point High School. While living in Point, she loved to drive her daddy's tractor and plow the fields.

After graduation she moved to Dallas and began her career at Sears, Roebuck and Co. on Lamar St. During her 39 years of service, she rose to become a Department Supervisor of Department 150.

Gussie also traveled the country in her Winnebago, which she named Fronie Malonie.

Gussie moved to Lago Vista, Tx and that is where she was introduced to some of her lifelong friends. She had always enjoyed golf, but living next to the 9th hole of the Lago Vista Golf Course only enticed her to improve her game.

The Dallas Cowboys have lost a longtime fan. Gussie was Silver and Blue through and through. She became a season ticket holder when the Cowboys first played their home games at the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park. Any time the Cowboys were playing, if she wasn't at the game, she was watching undisturbed on TV.

Gussie also had a love for cooking. Especially fried chicken and chocolate pie. She loved entertaining for her many friends and family because this allowed her to show off her cooking skills.

Gussie was a 3 time cancer survivor.

Gussie is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jimmie McBride, Billy McBride, Johnnie McBride and J.T. McBride. Brother-in-law John Ross Watts, sisters-in-law Carolyn McBride, Robbie Ruth McBride and Joan McBride.

Gussie is survived by her sister Shirley Watts, nephews Danny McBride (Kimako), Dennis McBride, nieces Wanda Eads Sancillo, Tammy Loftis (Tommy), and Carla Watts (Lisa Carlock), special friends Donald and Georgiann Laseter, plus numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, as well as friends too many to count.

Gussie always had a place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, and she adored her poodles Fifi and Taffy.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the SPCA, American Cancer Society or Dementia Society of America.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 22 in the New Hope funeral home chapel with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.
