Susano Polanco Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brady & Fallon Funeral Home - Jamaica Plain on Jan. 16, 2026.
Susano Augusto Polanco, known to friends and family as Augusto, passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy of joy, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The first thing anyone noticed about Augusto was his smile - warm, constant, and full of life. He had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel like a friend, and he moved through the world with kindness, humor, and an open heart.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Augusto was a lifelong learner who valued education and growth. He studied accounting in college and later taught the subject, sharing his knowledge with pride. Music ran deeply through his life, inspired by his father, Susano Polanco, a celebrated opera tenor in the Dominican Republic.

After moving to the United States, Augusto lived in New York City and settled in Boston, where he served his community as a School Traffic Supervisor for the Boston Police Department for twenty-six years, a role he carried out with care and responsibility.

Augusto found happiness in life's simple joys -music, tending his garden, and proudly giving away the tomatoes he grew in his backyard. He was always joking and had a special way of making others laugh, bringing light and warmth to every room he entered. Above all, he was a devoted family man, a loving husband and a proud father who was always there to advise and guide his children.

Augusto is survived by his beloved wife Ana Luisa Polanco and his children Edward Polanco, Sulisa Polanco, Marcranchof Polanco, Clalidia Polanco and Elizabeth Hidalgo.

Though he is no longer with us, his joy, laughter, and love will remain in our hearts always.

Visiting hours at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Wednesday January 21 from 5-8 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. His family will gather again at the funeral home on Thursday, January 22 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM before traveling to Fairview Cemetery for interment services.

I saw Augusto every morning walking to the T - even though I walked on the opposite side of the street, we'd shout Hello! and Good morning! Good morning! to each other. He was a ray of sunshine, warming me up to face the day. His smile, good cheer, and warmth will be missed.

Augusto didn't just shepherd children to safety. He also made sure that I and my mischievous pup Buddy made it across busy Walk Hill Street. In one of our brief encounters, he told me of his deep love of family, especially for his dear wife. He claimed that was the secret of a long and happy life. I hope his family knows how much we appreciated him.

Augusto was always such a bright spot in my commute in the mornings. His smile had a way of melting the stress and the hustle and bustle of Walk Hill St. I will miss his calming presence.

Our family is so sorry for your loss. Augusto brightened our day, especially my daughter's, every day when we biked by on our way to school. Warmth radiated from him no matter how cold or wet it was outside. His small acts of kindness no doubt created ripples throughout his community and beyond to make the world a better place.
