Austin Travis Basquez passed unexpectedly on February 21, 2026, at the age of 29.

Austin was born on June 10, 1996, in Stuart, Florida. From an early age, he was known for his kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. Austin truly had the biggest heart — he would help anyone with anything. All you had to do was ask. He had a natural ability to make others laugh and to offer steady support to those who needed it most.

Austin graduated from Lincoln Park Academy and attended Indian River State College for a short time before making the courageous decision to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. He embraced boot camp and the discipline it instilled in him. After completion, he was stationed at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms to begin communications training, where he finished first in his class and earned a meritorious promotion to Lance Corporal. He was selected for additional training at a U.S. Air Force base in Texas before being stationed in Okinawa, Japan for the remainder of his service. Austin carried great pride in serving his country and formed strong bonds that would last a lifetime. He honorably completed his service in the United States Marine Corps and was discharged with the rank of Corporal.

After completing his military service, Austin returned home and took a brief break before helping his grandmother open her laundromat. He later began his career at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Starting as a transporter, he worked hard and transitioned into a role as an anesthesia technician. Austin truly enjoyed his work at the hospital and the people he worked alongside, forming many genuine and lasting friendships.

In his free time, Austin loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed playing online games with his childhood friends and the brothers he served with in the Marines, keeping those close bonds strong over the years. He had recently begun collecting his favorite anime characters, a hobby that brought him joy and reflected his fun-loving spirit.

Austin’s presence was comforting, his laughter unforgettable, and his generosity unmatched. Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave so freely will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Jason and Susan Basquez and Kim Ludwig; sisters, Kirstin Basquez and Allie Elizer (Josh); brother, Brett Basquez; grandmothers, Linda Basquez and Linda Hall; and grandfather, Ken Basquez; aunts, Jenny Fergerson (Scott), Barbara Hall, and Deborah Bunt; uncle, Jeremy Basquez (Lindsay); niece, Rayne Basquez; nephew, Parker Elizer; cousins, Jayden and Jaxson Basquez, Kenny and Elizabeth Fergerson, Brinley Hall, Zane, Jaxon, and Kohl Bryant, and Gabe Bunt; along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved him deeply.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 from 3:00-4:00 PM with a service to follow at 4:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.

Austin’s memory will forever be a blessing.
